"It was a great night for the Highwood, I’d like to thank Redtooth for the super show and Punch Taverns for putting the event on!"

Solihull pub quiz champions put a celebrity quiz team in the hot seat after winning the chance to play against them at their local pub.
Team Olé, who were crowned the best in the country in Punch Taverns national pub quiz final organised by Redtooth, battled it out against the TV celebrity team, including Pat Gibson (World Champion from Eggheads), Mark “The Beast” Labbett (The Chase), Dr Iwan Thomas (Brain of Britain) and Gary Dermody (Welsh Champion, Mastermind), at the Highwood pub in Solihull.
With Ted Robbins, Den Perry in Phoenix Nights, as the host the teams took a turn in the hot seat in multiple rounds, including a quick fire buzzer round. The celebrity team pipped team Olé to the post, winning by three points.
Robin Leak, from team Olé, said: “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be up against such a team in our own pub but we think we acquitted ourselves well. Any or all of them are welcome back at the Highwood anytime as is Ted Robbins, an excellent compere for the evening.”
Licensee Dave Hunt, who runs the Highwood in Solihull, said: “It was a great night for the Highwood, I’d like to thank Redtooth for the super show and Punch Taverns for putting the event on! The pub quizzes were a good way to increase trade during quieter times so we plan to run it again next year.”
