A Wickhambreaux pub has been recognised as a Regional Champion and for delivering the best customer experience in Canterbury.
Punch Taverns, the largest pub company in the UK, have rewarded The Rose Inn, Wickhambreaux with a 2008 Shine Award – which commends those truly exceptional pubs from its 8,400 strong estate.
Licensees Angie and Phil Wyles won the ‘Best Customer Experience’ category and were presented with their award at a prestigious ceremony earlier this week at Leeds Castle, Kent.
The Rose Inn fought off tough competition from twelve other regional finalists who had been short listed from over a 1000 pubs, nominated from all over the UK.
The judges gave particular praise to ‘this archetypal English village pub’ and commented that ‘both drinkers and diners receive a very warm reception and have equally great experiences.’
Punch’s regional operations director Rob Ward commented: “What a fantastic event and a great opportunity to recognise these truly outstanding pubs. We received over 90 nominations in this region so to be crowned category winners is an exceptional achievement – well done!”
And licensees Angela and Phil are delighted with the accolade: “We were over the moon to have won these awards especially as we have been in this industry under 2 years. It has made all the hard work we have put in so very worth while. We are very honoured and proud as are our customers and will be having a party to celebrate”
As well as their trophy, Angie and Phil also received a £500 gift experience voucher and will join the other Regional Champions at a prestigious Champions Dinner event taking place on 21st May at Hampton Court Palace in London.
