About us/Working in partnership

We are dedicated to helping our Partners build sustainable, successful businesses for the future.

Partner Relationships

Good Partner relationships lie at the heart of our business. We have a nationwide team of Partnership Development Managers (PDM) with responsibility for circa 45 pubs each who are the main point of contact with our Partners.

We regularly seek feedback from our Partners through the Punch Buying Club forum, Partner meetings and online surveys. Dissatisfied Partners can complain to us directly or escalate their concerns to the BII who monitor compliance with our Code of Practice.

From the moment a Partner enquires about taking a pub with Punch we will work with them every step of the way to develop a robust business plan and ensure that, from day one behind the bar, they are set up for success.

Business Development

Each year we invest circa £40m improving and developing the quality of our pubs with our Partners.

We have expanded our Finest Cask scheme to offer a wider choice of cask ales and supported our Partners in launching or developing their food offers. We have a team of eight dedicated Catering Executives and fully packaged food offers including Table Top and Simply Pub Food as well as a Coffee and Wi-Fi offer.

Each year we put on a series of roadshows, specifically designed to help Partners develop a competitive edge and benefit from top deals, trade building ideas, support and impartial advice. Our last roadshow saw over 2,500 Partners attend the eleven nationwide events.

We also host Spring Fairs, smaller scale events held in pubs and which are designed to help Partners reach local suppliers and gear up for the all important spring and summer trading periods.

Investing In Our Pubs

We are committed to continually improving the quality of our pub estate through investment. Schemes range from transformational spends of up to half a million through to smaller scale schemes specifically designed to help Partners increase trade by maximising customer appeal. Many schemes have focused on improving external signage, refreshing interiors, enhancing cask ale offers and expanding or introducing a quality food offer.

Ready For Business

Through our Ready for Business programme, we  invest in pubs that are available to let to new Partners. Combined with close PDM support and foundation training, Ready For Business helps to ensure our Partners have the best possible chance to succeed in their business from the beginning.

To ensure Partners are set up with strong financial and stocktaking controls, we have also introduced Pubwise, an independent, nationwide panel of accountancy and stocktaking suppliers, vetted by us to ensure they are experienced licensed trade experts who will offer impartial advice and excellent value to Partners.

Partner Training

Our Partner training has focused on setting Partners up for success from day one by aligning close PDM support and business development activity with Foundation Training. New Partners complete the Foundation Week called Ready For Business prior to entering their new pub. This is backed up by a visit from their PDM within the first two weeks and followed by a series of structured visits over the next five months to focus on key business needs.

As part of our commitment to ensure the capability of our Partners, we have built in a £600 cash back incentive for those who complete our Ready For Business programme.

Our Pubs

Our estate comprises a broad range of different styles of pub operations from high end destination food outlets, country pubs, to city centre bars and community local pubs.
