A much needed donation of £500 has been made to the Burton Duke of Edinburgh Award group by Burton based pub company, Punch Taverns.

The Punch Community Spirit Project donated this money to help cover the cost of sending the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Candidates’ Leaders on practice assessment expeditions.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award provides an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development to 14-25 year olds. Over 160,000 young people take up the challenge in the UK every year.

With the money donated by Punch Taverns, the Burton team, from De Ferrers college, will be able to experience Gold expeditions such as sailing along the Norfolk Broads or even walking in Canada, which all provide a challenging but highly rewarding experience for participants.

The Punch Community Spirit Project (PCSP) was set up to make donations to a variety of organisations such as charities, schools, sports clubs, welfare groups and hospitals.
