Profiles: Day in the life of a Business Relationship Manager 7.45am – 8.15am: Into the office at home to download emails from the previous night and action anything received. Review objectives and targets for the day ahead and write a new 'to do' list. Receive a phone call from my Regional Operations Director to discuss various issues as I have been away on holiday for a week. Review target sites and general discussion on the area. 8.30am: Leave home to attend a site meeting at one of my pubs in Atherstone which is receiving a £370,000 investment after long term closure. Meet the new licensees, carry out a business review and confirm actions, deadlines and timescales and agree next meeting date. 11.00am: Make and receive various phone calls on the way to a business review meeting at another one of my pubs in Fazley, a half an hour drive away. 11.30am: Arrive at my destination. Walk around the whole business to check standards and point of sale. Check bottles in the fridges and carry out a cellar check. Complete business review; fill in an agenda pad with clear action notes and timescales for completion for the licensees and me! Carry out a 6 month licensing review and document any issues. 2.00pm: Make and receive various phone calls on the way to meet my Regional Estate Executive for a capex meeting reviewing proposed investments. Received phone call from a new licensee from one of our bars currently closed for refurbishment. He needs to see me urgently so I arrange 5.00pm today. 2.30pm – 4.15pm: Arrive at capex review meeting with my Regional Estates Executive and Development Manager to discuss projects that have been completed. (Approx £750,000 spent this financial year.) Plan next years projects including outside schemes and to help address smoking legislation. Agree approx £400,000 spend planned for the first half year. 4.15pm – 4.45pm: Make and receive various phone calls on the way to meet one of my licensees who needs to see me urgently! 4.45pm - 5.30pm: Meet with licensee- confirm opening orders have been placed and marketing plan is complete. Discuss general progression of investment and opening night. Reassured him that all will be fine! 5.45pm: Arrive home, into the office to download emails and action accordingly. Check 'to do' list and complete anything outstanding. Print off various information from the Brulines website and Business Objects software for meetings the next day.
