A Staffordshire pub company has completed an impressive treble, scooping three prestigious industry awards for the quality of its licensee training programme. Fradley based Punch Pub Company received the accolades at the National Innkeeping Training Awards (NITAs) held at London's Café Royal on Friday (22 March). The company, which has 4,300 leased and tenanted pubs across the UK, won awards for Best Targeted Training Course, Best Course Designed to Develop Food and Catering Skills and the overall Supreme Award for Non-managed Estates. Stephen Gould, Punch Pub Company's director of recruitment and training, said he was delighted with the hat trick. "This is a fantastic endorsement to the quality of our courses and our regional training staff," he said. "The NITAs are the only nationally recognised training awards for the trade and winning, especially in more than one category, is the ultimate seal of approval for training excellence." Punch Pub Company trained more than 500 licensees in 2001, giving them the skills and knowledge to be successful in the pub trade. Stephen said: "Customers expect high standards and great levels of service in every pub and only through first rate training can these demands be consistently satisfied. "Our courses have been designed in partnership with experienced consultants, professional bodies including the British Institute of Innkeeping and practising licensees to ensure they are both focussed and effective." Two of Punch Pub Company's regional training consultants also picked up NITA awards. Arrochar Associates of Middleton Stoney, Bicester, won the award for the General Provision of Training for the On-Licensed Retail Sector. And Bill Stanaway from Dronfield, Derbyshire, who is also a Punch Pub Company licensee, was named Trainer of the Year.
