Partnership helps Punch Pubs connect to food
Press Release

Punch Pub Company is serving up a host of discounts on catering supplies for its retailers in time for the festive season.

The leased and tenanted pubco has formed a unique partnership with Woodward Foodservice to supply pubs throughout its 4,300 strong estate.

Called Connect to Food, the scheme is intended to help licensees create competitively priced food offerings without being forced to compromise on quality.

The range incorporates classic and contemporary pub dishes and ingredients, children’s food, snacks and desserts.  There is also a special Christmas selection including buffet food and complete meal solutions.

Head of sales development David Bremner said almost 500 Punch pubs had subscribed to Connect to Food since its launch earlier this year.

“We have been able to negotiate some substantial discounts on behalf of our retailers and many are taking full advantage, particularly in the build up to Christmas,” he said.

“A quality food offering pitched at the right target market can really boost a pub’s profitability – and Connect to Food is a fantastic tool for getting it off the ground.

“We can help devise menus to suit a specific outlet and personalise them with the pub’s name.  Even if a pub already has food in place we can still source competitively priced supplies or broaden their range of dishes.

“Representatives from Woodward Foodservice are on hand to visit licensees to explain how the scheme works and offer professional advice on food retailing.

“They also assist in the food section of our Modern Licensed Retailer training course for new Punch lessees and tenants.”

Punch retailers utilising Connect to Food include Neil Sullivan, who runs the Hermit Inn, Warrington.  He created new childrens’ and sweet menus through the scheme.

He said: “The quality of the products and all printed material is excellent and deliveries always arrive on time.

“Overall, it represents good value for money and has helped us reinforce our image as a family orientated pub.”
