Call on charity to get you home
Press Release

An innovative new taxi service available exclusively to customers in Punch Taverns pubs will make getting home after a night out easier and raise money for a worthy cause.

The company has joined forces with Macmillan Cancer Support to launch a taxi calling scheme to all 7,800 of its leased and tenanted pubs.

Customers in participating outlets can ring a special hotline from their mobile phone, which instantly connects them to up to five local taxi firms.  For every call made 10p will be donated to Macmillan.

Punch’s category manager Claire Archer said: “This is an exciting partnership that provides our retailers and their customers with exclusive access to the taxi service while simultaneously helping raise essential funds for charity.

“It is also a further demonstration of our commitment to promoting responsible retailing in the Punch estate.

“Once the number is stored in your mobile it makes getting a taxi quick and easy no matter where you are in the UK, which means there is absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving.”

To help promote the taxi service, Punch pubs have already received A3 information posters and 100 business cards.  Additional supplies can be ordered from Punch by calling 0121 687 3300.

Macmillan Cancer Support aims to improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support and pushing for better cancer care.  The charity says one in three Britons will be diagnosed with cancer at some time in their lives.
