Punch promotes one for the ladies
Press Release

The secret of how to get the woman of your dreams into the pub is something many people would pay good money for – but Punch Taverns has produced a free guide packed with the tricks of the trade to help their lease holders do just that.

‘Ladies: the essential guide to making your pub more attractive to ladies’ looks at what women enjoy about and demand from their pub-going experience – and what licensees can do to ensure that they meet these expectations.

It carries tips on ensuring safety for women, such as establishing a good relationship with a local taxi firm to ensure a safe trip home, focusing on quality and presentation, and making sure toilet facilities are to the highest standard.

But there are also tips on laying on ‘female friendly’ nights such as a beauty promotion linked event with a local salon offering discount vouchers or themed evenings around salsa dancing.

The guide also includes advice on women’s preferred drinks – and promotional ideas such as creating a database of women customers to keep them up to date with forthcoming events via email.

“This is the latest in an extensive series of ‘How to’ guides we produce. Other topics include 101 ideas to promote your pub, how to attract students, and how to use merchandising and chalkboards to build business”, explains Punch Taverns beer and cider category manger Stephen Martin.

“We want to break the ‘men only’ drinking den stereotype some people still associate with pubs. With the smoking ban now imminent, pubs need to look at not just retaining their existing customers but also attracting customers who may have avoided their local in the past, perceiving it as a smoky and male dominated environment. Women love to have a good night out with their friends just as much as men do – and all it takes is a little bit of thought to make a pub more female friendly”, added Stephen.

The new ‘How to’ guide is available to all Punch Taverns lease holders free of charge by calling the Punch Promotional Service line on 0800 169 3784.

Punch Taverns is the UK’s largest pub owner with 8,400 leased, tenanted and managed outlets.
