Burton based pub company Punch Taverns has donated £500 from its Punch Community Spirit Project in support of Burton Playday.
The Punch Community Spirit Project (PCSP) was set up to make donations to a variety of organisations such as charities, schools, sports clubs, welfare groups and hospitals.
The £500 went towards supporting Burton’s take on the National Playday event at Burton Washlands on 6th August. It was a huge success with a turn out of between 3,500 and 4000 people.
Wacky Warehouse characters, Wendy and Wesley, were on hand to meet children and present the cheque to organisers of the event.
Avril Radley comments: “It was fantastic of Punch to support us. The money went towards providing much needed tents for the event which are always essential to protect children from the elements – whether it’s wet or dry.”
She adds: “Next year’s event will take place on the first Wednesday of August and we look forward to seeing the Wacky Gang there again!”
