The Punch Pub Company has packaged the skills of its HR team to provide a professional recruitment toolkit to help General Managers recruit high quality teams for each of their pubs.

The pub company is investing heavily in the quality of its employees and earlier this year completed a process of developing new blueprint team structures for its sites to provide the right levels of experience and skills. The blueprints include clear pathways for progression and now General Managers have the tools to get the right team in place to get them started on a successful career with Punch. 

Resourcing manager, Mark Rainsbury, said: “We understand the importance of people in our business and are committed to getting the right teams in place at each one of our pubs to ensure we deliver great guest experiences.

“After creating our blueprint structures we filled several new management opportunities within our pubs. The Talent and Resourcing Team wanted to create something that would support each of our General Managers in understanding and adopting the same professional recruitment techniques and high standards to ensure that every new member of our team is right for our business.”

The recruitment toolkit provides Punch’s General Managers with everything they need from posters and flyers to advertise jobs to interview guides and assessment materials to ensure that they recruit the right people. Also included within the pack are comprehensive guides on each stage of the recruitment process, from candidate attraction to making an offer of employment, ensuring that the recruitment process is a great experience for the hiring manager and candidate. 

Mark added: “Getting the best people to join the business is crucial and ensuring that they stay and develop with us is our priority. Following the launch of the Recruitment Toolkit our teams now have the tools to attract the best talent in the market place. To complement this the HR team are just about to launch a further tool, the Retain and Develop Your Team Toolkit. This pack will help our General Managers retain their teams and facilitate their progression along the career pathway.”

The recruitment toolkit is being launched as part of Punch Pub Company’s Operational Excellence programme which is improving operating standards across the business.
