Burton based pub company Punch Taverns has kicked off the New Year by handing over a whopping £1,000 for housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
Punch raised the money through its annual Christmas raffle where Punch employees paid £1 a ticket to enter to win a range of gifts that had been donated by suppliers and the money goes towards a good cause.
This was organised by the Punch Community Promise, which involves Punch staff donating time and money to a variety of local causes such as charities, schools, sports clubs, welfare groups and hospitals.
Penny Cooper, area manager for Shelter, said: “We are really grateful to Punch for choosing to donate the money they raised to Shelter. Every two minutes someone in this country faces losing their home. This money will go towards our vital work to help families facing problems from rent arrears to rogue landlords.”
