A cork popping launch at Punch
Press Release

Punch Taverns, the UK’s largest pub operator is launching a corker of a new wine list, designed to cater for pubs at all levels.

The new-look list, produced in conjunction with Punch’s joint venture company Matthew Clark, offers 211 wines from 12 countries across the globe and covers all the major grape varieties.

Tim McCord, Punch’s director of sales explains: “We have completely re-designed the list; the range of wines is more extensive and well balanced to suit all licensees’ price points, ranging from £2.99 to £11.98 per bottle.

“The need for pubs to have a strong food offer is ever increasing which makes it more important than ever for our licensee’s to get their wine offering right.  That’s really the inspiration behind this new list.”

As well as the range of award-winning wines, modifications to the list include an easy to navigate menu, informative descriptions and recommendations on which wines are best suited to certain dishes.

Tim adds: “The list also contains a ‘Wine Expression’ classification to help licensees understand whether their whites are herbaceous, nutty and juicy and whether their reds are peppery, sticky or oaked!

Licensee, Melanie Whyshall of the Fox and Hounds, Coxbench adds: “We’re excited about the list, particularly the new world wines, that is really appealing to a business like ours.“

Punch Taverns is the UK’s largest pub operator with more than 8,400 leased, tenanted and managed outlets.
