Burton based pub company Punch Taverns has donated £900 from its Punch Community Spirit Project to support local football clubs, Winshill FC and The Blacksmiths Arms team.
The Punch Community Spirit Project (PCSP) was set up to make donations to a variety of organisations such as charities, schools, sports clubs, welfare groups and hospitals.
The £400 donation to Winshill FC and £500 to the Blacksmith’s Arms team will help fund much needed kits.
Gary Dunne of Winshill FC said: “We are really pleased to receive this donation from Punch. It will allow us to provide new jackets for the team. We have 300 players in the club, ranging in age from eight years old right up to the men’s team, so we need a lot of kit! This will really help us out.”
And John Sutton from the Blacksmith’s Arms added: “It costs between £200 and £300 each year to provide kits for the team so this donation has ensured the continuity of our club for this year and in to next. It’s great to get support from a big local company.”
