Looking to run a pub?
The Devon & Cornwall is a great community mainstream business that has grown over the last 5 years, combining wet sales with a good food offer and accommodation in the form of 5 letting rooms. There’s a strong sense of community in the village and the pub’s bar stools are full of locals at key times. Residents also show good support for events hosted by the pub.
This pub is an open plan trading operation, with a main drinking area and dedicated space for dining. The catering kitchen can provide for up to 28 covers at full capacity. The pub is Cask Marque accredited and offers the cosy ambience of an open fire. Upstairs, there are 5 letting rooms – 3 doubles and 2 family rooms. Outside, there’s a beer garden with a drinking patio and a covered area.
Your domestic accommodation would consist of one bedroom, a kitchen and a lounge. Punch will ensure that this accommodation is in good order.
We’re planning a modest investment to enhance the back bar, the corridor that links the toilets to the pub and the toilet facilities themselves.
The local area
Millbrook is a very social village on the Rame peninsula, about four miles from Saltash in South East Cornwall. It sits at the head of a tidal creek which was dammed in 1977, resulting in a pool and wetlands that are great for bird watching. The village has two other pubs and a football club, but the Devon & Cornwall gets more than its fair share of trade.
This pub may suit
We’re looking for someone who’s keen to be part of the local community, running the bar or kitchen as well as handling the business admin. You’ll need a clear idea of rhythms of the week and like live music. Local customers are keen on planned events.
