Looking to run a pub?

The Horse & Groom is a community mainstream pub in the large village of Mortimer Berkshire, just outside Reading. With open views over the playing fields and surrounding countryside, it benefits from a prominent position in this thriving village, with plenty of potential customers on its doorstep and the appeal of a lovely beer garden for alfresco drinking and dining.

Business facilities

The pub trades across a central main bar space and two separate areas, one predominantly given over to seating and eating, the other mainly seating and sports with a pool table and darts throw. The kitchen can cater for up to 20 covers at full capacity and free WiFi is provided throughout. Outside, there’s a spacious beer garden and a smoking solution. There’s a car park directly opposite the pub, beside the playing fields.

The domestic accommodation consists of four bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge. Punch will ensure that this accommodation is in good order.

We’re planning investment to refresh signage, lighting, the bar area, toilet facilities and the garden area here, as well as some exterior decoration.

The local area

The pub sits in the centre of the village of Mortimer Berkshire, opposite the village green and playing fields. Located about 4 miles from Reading, Mortimer is a reasonably large village, with shops and a primary school. The village is surrounded by open countryside and although it’s well established, some new housing is being built nearby. Mortimer benefits from good road and rail links to London and other parts of the country.
