The Cask Marque accredited Salmon Inn is an attractive stone-built community mainstream pub in the quaint Northumberland village of East Ord. It has a great reputation for well-looked-after cask ales and for good, home-cooked food, which needs to be an integral part of the offer moving forwards. The Salmon benefited from investment just over 2 years ago and has a smart yet traditional look throughout its open plan trading space. The prominent bar leads onto a cosy snug area next to an open fire, which many walkers, cyclists and other visitors to the area really appreciate. Outside, there’s a rear patio area and a large beer garden that’s big enough to install a marquee for large local summer functions. East Ord is a village about 2 miles south-west of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which itself lies about halfway between Newcastle upon Tyne and Edinburgh. Berwick is a popular destination for tourists and many head for the Manor House and grounds, which are now part of Ord House Country Park, a quiet landscaped caravan park that’s just a few minutes’ walk from the pub.
