Overview

Located off the High Street in Welshpool, a small market town in Powys, the Wellington is a popular community value pub that has a good reputation for its pub teams and charity events.  The town benefits from significant tourism – including hosting a weekly livestock market that is the largest in Europe.

The pub has one bar, with clearly defined areas for vertical drinking, playing pool and more casual seating for customers to meet and talk with friends. It can seat about 50 customers, with standing room for an additional 10 or more. The Wellington has been well-loved and looked after and offers various activities during the week. The pub currently has two pool teams, two dominoes teams and two darts teams and also hosts entertainment on Saturday nights. Free WiFi is provided.

The domestic accommodation consists of three bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge. Punch will ensure that this accommodation is in good order.

Welshpool is a bustling market town that lies about 4 miles from the Wales-England border on the busy arterial route for access to Mid Wales. This historic town benefits from quite a lot of tourism and a weekly Monday livestock market – the largest in Europe – also attracts people into the area. There are good rail links and tourist attractions for walkers, golfers and visitors to nearby holiday parks. The local population is about 6,600.

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate understanding of the local market and be good at running teams, entertainment and charity events. Well aware of the changes in the pub sector, you’ll take a proactive approach to developing and driving this business forward.
