Elaine Poxon, Territory Dispense Manager

What has been your career journey with Punch?

“I joined Punch 13 years ago in 2005 as a part-time Inbound Sales Advisor in the Contact Centre, responsible for taking Publican orders.  After a couple of years, I moved into a Sales Administrator role before, in 2010, taking an opportunity to lead the Inbound team in a full-time position.

The Contact Centre is a fantastic team and my time there provided a great grounding in the pub industry and the ways of working of Punch.

After a few years I was keen to look at further developing my career so, with the support of my line manager and the HR team, completed 360-degree feedback, which gave me some really useful ideas and pointers on my style of working and future roles that would potentially suit me.

The process highlighted that the Territory Dispense Manager role could be a really good fit.  It’s a field based role, working with Publicans to ensure compliance with the terms of their agreement but also supporting them with the dispense and quality of their beer.

In July 2014, I was successful in securing a role as a Territory Dispense Manager. I enjoy the role immensely and feel proud to work as part of such a fantastic and supportive team.”

What support and development have you had in your time at Punch?

“The support from the HR team and my line managers in both the Contact Centre and Commercial has been hugely appreciated and really helped to build my confidence and understand how best to progress my career at Punch.

The full and half year Performance Development Review process at Punch is also fantastic.  It’s very much a two-way conversation, where you have an opportunity to express your career aspirations and get the support to help you achieve them.”

What is it like working for Punch?

“I love working for Punch and have always felt trusted and valued in my roles. The company values are aspirational and really shows Punch’s commitment to its people.

The senior team is really approachable and listen, which is extremely important.  I find that teams are empowered to achieve results and not micro-managed.”

Would you recommend working for Punch to others?

“I would wholeheartedly recommend working for Punch to others.”
